I'm excited to roll out two brand new tactical challenges for A Space Story: the Deep Space Relay and The Vortex scenarios.
The Mission
The neutral Martaanian faction has established a critical orbital relay station in a stable orbit around our sector's central black hole. However, the Vorrath have moved in to destroy this strategic asset. Your mission is to provide orbital defense for the station while it continues its vital work.
Unique Challenges
- Orbital Mechanics: Unlike your base, the Relay Station is in constant motion. You'll need to coordinate your defenses around an orbiting target.
- Wave-Based Assaults: The Vorrath won't give up easily. Expect escalating waves of fighters specifically targeting the relay's core systems.
New AI Behaviors
To support this scenario, I've implemented new defensive AI logic. The Martaanian "Relay Guards" will maintain a tight perimeter around the station, using a leash-based defense strategy to ensure they aren't lured away by enemy distractions.
The Vortex: Navigating Gravity
Prepare for chaotic combat in our second new scenario, The Vortex. This highly dynamic environment introduces gravity wells in a slow orbital rotation, radically altering ship movement and tactical positioning.
- Dynamic Gravity Wells: The battlefield is constantly shifting with rotating gravity wells, requiring fluid adjustments to your strategy.
- Advanced Enemy Tactics: The Vorrath AI has been upgraded to prioritize constructing tractor beams to manipulate your forces before launching full-scale assaults.
